Ferries are the best way, by far. I've travelled from St. Thomas on numerous times, from both Charlotte Amalie and Red Hook by ferry. It is by far the cheapest and most convenient way to go.
You can visit all of the US and British islands this way (just bring your passport for the British ones). The cost will range from $8 for an adult up to as much as $50 or $60 depending on the distance and speed (hover ferries are fastest). They're clean, safe, and easy to navigate.
If you want to take your car, there are car ferries (this will cost more, and I have not done it, would guess you need to add 20-40 dollars on), but check beforehand about the ferry company policies and your rental car company's policies. For example, you can take a car from St.Thomas to St. John, but not the other way. The rental companies prohibit it and the ferry will require proof that it is not a St.John rental.Do not trust hotel employees or vague "sure, no problem" kinds of responses-ask the rental agency and the ferry company specifically about a particular island-to-island hop.
Had a few headaches once over this, and decided just to not even try. As it turns out, had no need for a car anyhoo. Enjoy the islands!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
