What is the difference between an economics major offered in the Schools of Arts and Sciences vs the School of Business?

The college I will be attending has offers economics as a major in 2 different schools. One is in the Arts and Sciences and the other is listed as a Business major with emphasis on economics, which still counts as an economics major. What is the difference between the 2 and which one has better options in the future?

It all depends on how much math it has I've been trained by the Chicago school of economics, so I am biased toward a math-based program. For me, an econ program that's just social history is not worth as much as one that concentrates on math and statistics. In terms of getting a job after college, a degree is a degree.

Probably the emphasis on what you analyze You don't say where you're going, but you can tell what the difference is by looking at the required courses, and the optional areas you need to fill, if your school has such. Business economics leads towards the ability to build econometric models that focus on businesses and specific sectors of the economy. It probably focuses on macro-level analyses, so you can see how recent trends affect a specific kind of business.

How does the aging of the population affect the demand for health care services? How can I analyze the market? Is there a better way to model market fluctuations?

Arts and Sciences economics is more likely to be more socially-oriented: what is happening to women in the workforce? Why is there a glass ceiling? What are the economic factors driving philanthropy?

What is the cost of racism? That sort of thing. Presumably both schools will allow you a wide variety of electives, that you can take from any program that interests you.

The other thing is that people might think that a B School degree might make you more money if you go into business, and a liberal arts degree, while it may cover pretty much the same thing, probably will be paid less. So it might depend on what you think you might want to do after school. Personally, I think the liberal arts prepare you better for life.

The B school will be more focussed, and might leave you less well rounded, even if you are better compensated. If you agree that "money isn't everything," go through arts and sciences. If you disagree, go through the B school..

None. Where I went to college, Economics was housed in school of business. When I went to law school, I met people who had been Econ majors who had taken the subject as part of the Social Science currciculum.It doesn’t seem to matter a bit, since the courses are same.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
