What is the difference between the MIF, the MMFE and the MS Finance?

MIF and MS MS Finance are the two most specialized programs of the three. Core courses of the MIF are designed for students who already have prior training in Finance and Financial Accounting. Core courses of the MS Finance are designed for students who have a strong quantitative background but may not have prior training in Finance and Financial Accounting.

Electives are mostly common between the two programs, which prepare students for the same careers: mergers and acquisitions, project finance, asset management, trading, sales, structuring... MMFE has a more comprehensive curriculum, which includes training in economics and business strategy. MMFE also has several electives common with MIF, MS Finance and other master programs at HEC. The program is geared toward students who include finance as one of their career objectives but consider also working in consulting, international organizations... It is also uniquely suited to candidates who wish to work in equity research or as ... more.
