What is the functions of rna and DNA?

DNA is made of genes which bears the hereditary characters of an individual. Transfer of DNA through the gametes transfers these hereditary characters from one generation to the next RNA is made up of codons( triplets of nitrogen bases) in a single strand attached to nucleic acids in which each codon represents one amino acid. Thus, RNA helps in protein synthesis by linking several amino acids together in a chain.
