...not necessarily non-traditional, but unique....was in a small restaurant (a tarp strung between two buildings- a road during the day and an outdoor eatery at night) on the outskirts of Cairo, Egypt. My Arabic was not sufficient to read the men,u so I ordered what the guy next to me was having - looked like chicken, so what the heck. Meal arrived, I ate it, delicious, of course.
The owner proudly scrounged up a souvenir menu in English for me as I left...I think it must have been pigeon (you could hear them cooing behind the crates that blocked the alley access) and Fava beans. He underlined what I had ordered and just eaten....'Foul and Bens'...probably would not have ordered that straight-up. Harlw.
In recent memory, - I made nachos with humus as a topping with salsa and cheese, and it was great! - Duddy.
I actually ate cow-stomach in a peanut butter broth with white rice...believe me if I knew what it was I would have never taken a bite...tasted like peanut butter flavored cardboard!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
