I have a memorial tattoo on the back of my right hand for the best dog of my life (I wouldn't recommend getting one there, as it was quite painful) and an eyeball tattoo on the back of my bald head. I'm curious as to how many people out there have tattoos in really strange places and what the images signify. The eyeball tattoo I got because when I first started shaving my head, my friends wanted to draw on me with a marker, like my bald head was some sort of billboard.
It is amazing the number of people that love that tattoo. Asked by evelyns_cockroach 45 months ago Similar questions: unusual place tattoo Arts > Bodyart.
10 years ago.... I have a barcode tattooed on the back of my head.. Granted - its 10 years later and I'm not quite the punk I used to be.. I still like having it.. because I always have hair.. the tattoo is all mine.. I think of shaving my head every once in a while.. but my job doesn't really allow me.. (a shame huh).. I've gotten lots of compliments on it mostly from older people.. it was weird walking around and suddenly having instant cred with the older generation... Even people who seemed like the wouldn't like tattooed people approached me and complimented me on it... It was really eye opening -- also .. at the time.. my friends started calling me barcode (kind of as a joke considering the implications of barcodes and identity. ) The meaning of it is that we are all merely numbers.. that we are all just a collection of digits.. a collection of corresponding numbers that interconnect.. That we have no identity beyond our numbers.. and without our numbers.. we are no one.. It represents (to me) all that is wrong with the modern age.. The dichotomy of individuality and conformity by way of barcode.. we are all unique - but we also just a collection of digits.. Sources: my brain.. and the back of my head..
My Lower Back I guess the location isn’t all that unusual, but I think getting my first tattoo at 58 was. I decided to get it as a reward for the conclusion of my working career and the transition to my retirement years. I wanted a statement that said my life was beginning anew, and a tattoo seemed a good way to go.
I chose to honor my father at the same time. He was very influential in my life and I miss him dearly. He was an artist in many ways.
One of them was making silver jewelry. I chose the design from a hummingbird pin he made for my mother. I’ve always liked it.
I also liked the symbolism of the hummingbird in Coastal Salish societies. The hummingbird stands for love, beauty and intelligence. Having just moved to Coastal BC it also seemed an appropriate choice.
I am now planning on a new tattoo but haven’t picked a design or location yet. Sources: personal experience .
In places that were unusual when I got them 30 years ago I had never seen an ankle tattoo It is amazing how this caught on. I also have one circling my navel (also 30ish years old) and a brand new one on my back. The picture of it is my avatar..
Mine is not in such an unusual place, but.............. I got it for an unusual reason. I was going on vacation with my three sisters to Florida. My husband dared me to get another tattoo (I have a rose on the inside right ankle).
YOU DON’T EVER DARE ME! I said ~ sure hunny what should I get? He said I would never do it, but that he wanted his name on me.
Well guess what ~ I have a red heart with his name through it on my lower back. When I got to Florida, there was a really nice card in my suitcase from my hubby, and with it came some cold hard cash to go with the dare. Little does he know, he didn’t have to give me money, I still would have done it.
Oh ~ did I tell you, he wasn’t my hubby yet LOL! .
No tatoos. My old man would've skinned me alive....and then I grew up.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
