If you mean just the first book of the series: Bella Swan, 17, who lives with her mom and stepdad in Phoenix, Arizona but her mom wants to travel with her new husband who plays minor league baseball. She decides to move with her biological father who lives in Forks, Washington. At first she is miserable because she enjoys dry weather and heat, but then she meets Edward Cullen, whom she falls in love with.

She finds out he is a vegetarian vampire, but doesn't care. If anything, it makes him even more attractive (in her eyes). Then a simple date out to a giant field for vampire baseball goes awry when 3 "bad vampires" pass through and James, a vampire with an uncanny sense for tracking people, finds Bella's scent too desirable to ignore, and he hunts her.

He almost killed her, by throwing her head into a mirror, breaking her leg and a few ribs, and biting her wrist injecting venom that Edward later sucked out. James was killed and Bella just went to the hospital for a couple weeks to heal. Then Edward takes Bella to prom and they live happily ever after.
