What is the public opinion about Wikileaks and Julian Assange in the USA?

There are some questions which every alert reader (US or non-US) would want an answer for, viz. , how in the first place is Wikileaks getting all sorts of highly classified stuff? What could be the motive of Wikileaks behind unveiling all those secret documents of the US and other countries of the world?

Why is it still in business if its revelations are deemed as a danger for lives of individuals and a blow to the foreign policy of nations and strain in relation building among countries? Wasn't there an easy option available to Wikileaks in the media world where they could make decent money along with more friends than enemies? John Naughton's article in guardian.co.Uk summarizes Julian's personality as "s significance transcends his personality.

Assange unleashed a genie that can't be rebottled. As a result of his work, governments everywhere are faced with a tough choice: to live with a WikiLeakable world or to shut down the net. Not bad for an Australian hacker of no fixed abode.

" (source: http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/feb/20/wikileaks-books-roundup-reviews) Initially, Wikileaks idea was only to publish secret documents and it assumed that the fact would speak for itself, but the uploaded documents were too complex and boring to read and so they felt the need of some journalistic help which was catered to them by the Guardian, The New York Times and Der Spiegel and which ultimately added to the net value of those documents. If you ask a person who is not a "pro" or "anti" either for Julian Assagne or for any government about what he thinks of Wikileaks, you will find there is a difference in opinion. Those who favor "freedom of expression" and "right to know" in a democratic set-up are supporting Wikileaks.

They are leaking those documents which are kept from the common people. The governments should be able to convince media and people the reasons for keeping those secret in a way that everyone could digest it. Then there are those who feel that there are some facts that need to be kept secret for some good reasons and disclosing them can result in danger to lives and jeopardize international relations.

A few who believe that "insurgency in privacy" is a crime will designate Wikileaks as "cyber criminals. " The ease with which the Wikileaks let the documents literally crawled to it is amazing. It seems that in some cases there has to be some kind of a "secret understanding" between the two - the whistle-blower website and the concerning government (insider). If Wikileaks is held responsible for anything illegal than what about those who provided them with those documents and let them publish so easily?

The government should have the "guts" to acquaint its people with information about war-related developments. If a war machinery commits something illegal or inhuman, why should it be kept secret? Why should not someone responsible come forward and take the blame.

You cannot hide your wrongdoings behind the excuses either in the name of "national pride" or "for-the-good-of-all" or "for good reasons." Truth should prevail and no "behind-the-scenes policy" are going to work in the future of internet revolution where each person using web is a reader, journalist, activist and eager to know "what the truth is? " Yes, John Naughton is right!

The genie is out and it would not be possible for any government to put it back. You ban Wikileaks, within a week or two there will be tons of new websites launched with the suffix "leaks. The people have a 50-50 or 60-40 concept to like or unlike but personally I would I am the favour of wikileaks and julian assange but don't know the fact of rape charges against him..but I think the case against him to stop his activities..

Republicans and Conservatives hate him. Most Democrats and Liberals love him. So, it's about 50-50.

I'm a Liberal and a Green. I am in favor of Wikileaks and Assange. Also, I'm a guy and think the sex charges against him in Sweden are outrageous.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
