Top Veterans’ Preference provides qualified veterans, or their eligible family members, opportunities to receive interviews for Merit System positions within various state government agencies. However, being selected for an interview does not guarantee employment. When a register (official list of individuals who apply to a specific job vacancy) is released to the hiring agency by the Personnel Cabinet, all candidates who have submitted the required documentation to claim Veterans’ Preference will be designated as having veteran status.
