What is your opinion of online college degrees compared to those of traditional schools?

I would say that traditional schools (especially state schools) carry considerably more weight and legitimacy than online schools. This may change, but, I would definitely say that right now, it's a lot easier to get into an online school than it is a traditional school. This is correlated to how a hiring manager would perceive its value.

Frankly, if I were a hiring manager, I would be more interested in what skills and abilities you could contribute. Education would only matter me if it were relevant to the job that you are doing.

The tide is turning regarding online degrees. There are quite a few that are now accredited and provide a rigorous program of study. As a hiring manager, I would obviously take a lot into consideration, including education.

Online learning would not be a negative for me. Online learning often takes more discipline and dedication, as it is almost completely self directed. I always make hiring decisions based upon the candidate, not just what is written on their resume.

:).

Your first interviewer will judge your behavior in order to decide if you meet the minimum requirements for another interview. Then after you are invited back, maybe then you will realize that YOU are being evaluated--not the employees at an education company that conducts business out of a WiFi-equipped doublewide, somewhere in south Phoenix. Plus, you will include your education information in your resume.

If there are any negative opinions about online learning--you won't get invited to a first interview.

If I was a hiring manager, I would evaluate the candidate based on his qualifications, the skills he brings to the table, his confidence level, etc. rather than focusing too much on how he got his education. There are various circumstances that lead people to choose distance learning degrees over traditional campus-based programs. As long as online degrees are earned from a reputed, accredited school, I don’t see how it can be any less significant than classroom ones.

IMHO, it’s more important to gauge if a person is the right fit for a job!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
