Maybe you americans are taught to believe that socialism is something to be afraid of but actually how wrong could you be. For an average joe it's great to have some security, cheap health care, free education. Why are you so against that and pay almost the same amount of taxes and don't get much for that?
At the same time Europe is capitalistic and has free market economy. It's said that european market is more open than american and is even less regulated. Reading these comments here make me amused.
How many misconceptions can people have?
It's unsustainable. Europe is starting to have problems now and we've only seen the tip of the iceberg. Ask yourself this: Why hasn't a socialistic government ever lasted longer than about 80 years?
It crumbles. Denmark is often praised as the great example of socialism however they admit that they have massive debt, fiscal problems (worse that those of the US by far) and that those who have the best minds and abilities are leaving and going to other countries that have lower taxes. How's this for an idea: Flat tax across the board and have a certain percentage of the previous years tax revenue go to social programs.
That would actually be sustainable. At the end of the day, socialism is like cooking up your goose that lays golden eggs. You have one glorious day where you have a golden egg AND a great goose meal.
However, the next day you have neither.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
