What metaphors does the choir boys represent?

Traditionally, a choir boy is the perfect little catholic boy who does everything right. The idea was that people throughout time have seen glorifying God as evidence of rightousness and unwaivering faith. So a child singing the praises of God would be the ultimate in innocense and righteous behaviour.

The society of boys in the LOTF is a major symbol used by Golding. The boys are a metaphor for “the real world” so to speak, and it is important to note that this group of seemingly innocent youngsters end their time on the island in full scale war. Golding seems to be telling his reading audience that even in the hearts of children there exists a dark presence, one that leads them to hunt and kill each other.

These boys haven’t been taught to kill, they just do it naturally. Another glaringly large symbol of the dark heart of man is “the beast”. The beast does not exist.

A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
