Not anywhere near as large, but two other coffeehouse chains have excellent coffees and are fairly widely distributed. The first is Seattles Best (seattlesbest.com/#/about/company-timeline/ ): "As of May 2008 there are more than 540 cafes in the U.S. And 86 Seattle’s Best Coffee Express™ espresso bars—a new self-service concept. In addition, Seattle’s Best Coffee is available in the U.S. Nationwide in supermarkets and at more than 3,900 foodservice locations, such as college campuses, restaurants, hotels and cruise lines."
However, it so turns out that this is a subsidiary of Starbucks. The second is Caribou Coffee (http://www.cariboucoffee.com/page/1/company-info.jsp ) "Number of Locations: Almost 500 Company-owned locations. Locations in 16 US states and the District of Columbia, as well as in several countries outside the United States."
http://www.slashfood.com/2006/06/11/the-10-largest-coffee-chains-in-the-us/ lists the top 10 coffee chains in the US market as of 2006 as being: 1. Starbucks - 8,000 2. Caribou Coffee - 322 3.
Tim Horton's - 292 4. Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf - 213 5. Coffee Beanery - 200 6.
Seattle's Best - 160 (which happens to be a subsidiary of Starbucks! ) 7. Peet's Coffee - 112 8.
Tully's - 100 9. Dunn Bros. Coffee - 85 10.
Port City Java - 55 As you can see, from 2006 Caribou opened almost 180 more locations, while Seattle's Best opened 380 locations.
Dunkin Donuts is quite large. Started in the northeast and is now multi million dollar business. There is also a huge one in Canada, can't think of the name right now, there are also some across the border here....let me look that up.
I can almost see the name on the major league hockey arena advertisements.....arrghh.
Dunkin Donuts is giving Star Bucks some hefty competition. They even did a taste test a year ago to get feed back on the taste of their coffee vs Starbucks. Results were in their favor.
Personally, Dunkin Donuts coffee gets my vote!
Joffreys! Not nearly as big as starbucks, but they do have their own line of retail coffee available in supermarkets.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
