What percentage of votes did the liberal democrats get in the last uk election?

Whilst no party or politician ever has all the solutions - that is because life and reality is more complex than humans can grasp - we need to vote for the party that looks after the interest of the people best and in a sensible, considerate and moderate way without the spin doctoring of Cameron and Brown. Neither Tory nor Labour party have representatives that I would trust or that come across as anything but sleeze. Most representatives of the LibDems come across as decent intelligent human beings.

Therefore one should vote for them. I don't understand why some seats should be safe for Labour or Tory. Due to the Expenses scandal, many seats are up for grabs.

If the people actually wold vote for the best people and not just for their 'team' blue or red, we would have a better democracy. With LibDems in a coalition parliament, one gets a chance to obtain proportional representation. That's why I will vote for them.

I admire the fact that you are examining the issues and voting with your conscience. However it's always been easy for the Lib Dems to come up with 'radical ideas' largely because no one ever bothers to challenge them on how they will work. To take your examples.

1) raise the threshold.... sounds good, but that means either cutting services or charging a higher % tax rate over the 10,000 level. 2) No argument... ID cards are a rubbish idea 3) Don't agree, the amount you pay for local services should be in at least some way linked to the services used. Why should a single person living in a small flat pay more for rubbish collection than a family of 4 living in a 3 bed house just because he/she earns more?

4) We already have a written constitution... it's in statute law, Magna Carta and the Bill of rights... the rest is just intellectual nonsense and won't change a thing. I agree STV voting like they have in Australia does has some merits. 5) and replace it with what instead ... or should we become a non nuclear nation?

I can't support the second idea, however nice it sounds in theory. 6) University education costs money... if we scrap tuition fees taxes will have to go up instead. I'm not saying that's necessarily wrong, but you have to look at the down as well as the up.

As I say, I applaud you for voting with your conscience based upon your beliefs, but your arguments are a rather one sided simplistic representation of complex problems to which no-one...including the Lib Dems has a universally acceptable answer.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
