What program in Business should I take for logistics. I want to end up having a job in a office where my job deals with inventory and logistics related functions. I know of jobs in warehouses relating to that, but what college program would be approprite for a office computer desk job relating to warehouse inventory and logistics?
Would it be supply chain management, purchasing, marketing, retail or something else? Asked by ssnader 23 months ago Similar questions: program Business logistics Transportation.
It depends on the different offerings of your B-School. I would look closely at programs with the following titles: Logistics Management Supply Chain Management Operations Research or Operations Management Management Science Production Management--Production Planning, Scheduling & Inventory Control etc Needless to say, these are quantitative programs. You will need to hone your mathematics and statistics skills for the modeling work in these programs.
I used to love this stuff in the old days. Good luck to you. Sources: several courses in this subject in B-School .
Manufacturing management All of the decisions made in logistics have to do with support of the business. Marketing forecasts the future need for products, sales contracts with customers, Engineering puts together bills of materials listing the parts of a product, Purchasing brings parts in on time,Production uses parts to make products, shipping and receiving document the movement in and out, cost accounting sets cost standards and goals, and maintenance keeps inventories of spares. Knowledge of information systems would be very helpful in understanding how the parts are forecasted, planned, assembled, and shipped.
When you get into a company look for the opportunity to take classes in purchasing, inventory management, or other parts of the Enterprise Requirements Program, or whatever they call it there. Take an interest in solving problems that cost the company money or on-time deliveries. Ask to be on the inventory crew.

1 Supply Chain Management would probably be the most immediately useful. You'll also want to make yourself valuable to your company overall, so an understanding of how purchasing, marketing, business accounting and possibly business law all fit together with warehouse/inventory management would be helpful. Exposure in basic classes would help with that, or there may be some overview classes within supply chain management.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
