What rate should your heart rate be during exercising?

A person’s heart rate during exercise will be more dependent on age and what they hope to achieve rather than weight. To get a person’s maximum heart rate, the age of the individual should be subtracted from 220. If a person is 40 years old, the maximum would be 180.

For general health and when a person is just starting an exercise program he or she should shoot for 50-60% of this maximum heart rate. In our example of a 40 year old that would be between 90 and 110. On the other end of spectrum, if a person is training for a marathon or other race, that person might shoot for 80% or above their heart rate.It is always best to start slow and work your way up to that level and even then you should get a doctor’s advice to make sure there are no underlying problems that might prevent you from doing so.

The easiest way to check your heart rate is to press three fingers to your inner wrist or your upper neck just to the side. You should be able to feel your pulse and be able to count. Easiest is to count for 10 seconds and multiply by six.

That will give you your heart rate. This should be done at regular intervals during your exercise. wikihow.com/Check-Your-Pulse changingshape.com/resources/calculators/... americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identi....
