Start them as early as they have an interest. In general if you cook then they will be interested at a very young age 2 or 3 isn't too early IMOP. Obviously at that age the attention span will be short but they will get into things like stirring, beating, pouring, scooping.
Steer clear of sharp and hot objects at that stage. Something like a boxed brownie mix (mix, eggs, oil) would be a great start for that age. When they get to the age where they start reading and doing basic math (1st grade, 2nd grade) I highly recommend making cookies (chocolate chip or peanut butter).
This is a little more advance (wet and dry ingredients) but they get a kick out of measuring (cups, table spoon, oz) and have the motor skills to really help. Plus it's a fairly "instant gratification" because they only need a few minutes to bake. We have a kids ranging in ages from gh School to elementary school.
They have always been in the kitchen and I think exposure to adults cooking is the best thing you can give them. For something like Taco's we split everyone up. Older kid can be trusted with a knife so they chop lettuce and tomatoes.
Next younger can brown ground beef in a pan (as long as they know the rules around the stove), another can handle grating cheese. I would say by the time they hit the teen years they should be able to make spaghetti or mac n cheese, ramen noodles by themselves. Boil water, cook pasta, drain, heat up sauce bread and butter.
Plus, expose your kids to a verity of food at a young age. In our house the rule is you have to try everything. That doesn't mean you have to have a large portion of everything but they do have to try everything.
Their taste's change over time and the thing they use to hate may change into something that's OK. Trust me, they will thank you when they are adults.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
