The Catholic Church was founded or 'built' by Jesus Christ on Blessed Peter for the salvation of souls. Since Jesus is God the Son, and therefore Divine, the Catholic Church has it's origin directly in God. No other religious institution in the world has divine origin, as they were founded by human persons, of which Jesus Christ was not and is not.
As to what Catholics believe, I suggest you pick up a copy of the Apostle's Creed. It lists the basic tenets of the Catholic Faith. I will type it here for you: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose from the dead.
He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting, Amen.
It is obvious from this creed that Catholics believe in the Holy Trinity, as each of the Divine Persons are mentioned in it. We believe in the incarnation of Jesus, as noted in the line where He was born of the Virgin Mary. We believe in the resurrection of the body.
Christ rose from the dead, and we Catholics follow Christ's lead. We believe in the Holy Catholic Church. As I stated before, God the Son Himself, built the Catholic Church, so why would we not believe in it.
You get the idea. I hope this tiny bit of information helps you.
There is much on line to answer your questions. You are really looking for a crash course in Catholicism, and if I were you, I would put 'Catholic' into a search engine and go from there. Catholics are Roman Catholics.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
