It varies by state. You need to visit your state's department of education to find out which qualifications you need. But basically you need an undergrad degree and a Bachelor of Education.
You can also check university and college websites that offer education programs to find out what qualifications you need. The department of education website also has information on alternative routes to teaching. Here's the link: ed.gov/teachers/become/programs/edpicks.... In Canada, you need to complete a bachelor degree and then complete a bachelor of education. It is either 4 or 5 years of university.
Need bachelor's degree & appropriate state teaching certification. My two best friends (also roommates) are both teachers. (I'm the nurse--odd one out.) From observing their experiences, I would recommend that you find out some way to figure out if you will be able to handle the behavior management aspect of teaching as early as possible in your degree program.
You don't want to put in all the hard work in classes then decide while student teaching your last semester that you really don't have what it takes to keep control of your classroom filled with needy children, many of whom have not had the adequate parenting and social preparation you might expect. Of course, in a good Education program you will be taught systems and approaches that may help you with behavior management, but you have to know you have the strength to lovingly deal with challenging situations when you are on your own with 20-30 kids. Wow, reading back over this I regret that this sounds like I don't want anyone to ever teach.
NOT TRUE! But I have claimed my friends' passion for my own that no one should be a teacher who won't be good at it and, most importantly, loves those kids enough to provide an orderly routine in which they can learn vital life lessons. If that is you, then please GO FOR IT!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
