The outermost layer of the stomach is a visceral layer made of a serous membrane (dense Connective Tissue with no fat). The inner layer of the stomach is made of a mucosal layer represented by a simple columnar type of epithelium that have folds (rugae) and having tubular glands (glands that look like test tubes). The tubular glands are lined with cells (parietal, zymogenic, mucous, argentaffin or chromaffin cells with different secretions and functions).
