This can be a very sad realization for both of you. What if your partner continues to have trouble for the rest of your relationship? This may be a truth that you have to face.
If you're feeling terribly sad, it's also important that you pay attention to your own mental health. Are you depressed? Do you need professional help?
Your partner may be more ill than you are, but this doesn't mean you don't need help as well. Look over your partner's symptoms for depression. Do you share any of these symptoms?
If so, it may be time for you to get some professional help for your sadness.
