What software should I buy for USER FRIENDLY- editing for my digital photographs?

Similar questions: software buy USER FRIENDLY editing digital photographs.

None are truely user friendly... Of the main ones, none are really user friendly. But Photoshop Elements 6 or 7 would be the simplest and give the best bang for your $. Photoshop CS3 or CS4 are great but have a LOT more features and really are more than the average photo hobbist needs.

I do suggest you get a good book, that will help you learn the program. Scott Kelby writes several. He writes so that the average person can understand it, not a computer guru liek a lot of them are written.

He gives you different options for similar techniques and tells when one will work better than the other, and that is very helpful for most. I use CS3 myself, but my boys use Elements and they love it, and have fun just playing and trying new things, and that is one of the things I teach in my workshops, is that you have to play with it and try new things, to find out what you like. Also keep in mind if you are doing any color correction you want to make sure your monitor is profiled and calibrated, so then what you see is a deep red is really that color.

Thus when you send it to a good lab, and you tell them NO Color Correction, you will get what you sent them. Unless you tell them No Color Correction, they will run it thru their Auto adjustment program, and set it to what the average person would like and want... I don't know is Snapfish even allows that option, as they are one of the cheaper labs. Costco does, and gives great results if you are a member.

Mpix is not bad. I use Bay Photo for all my large prints and or exhibits I do. They have great quality and their prices are very competative.

Check them out. Hope this helps. Picnik I love Picnik! picnik.com/ I've been a fan of Paint Shop Pro for years, so much that I've never felt the need to change to Photoshop. But as a member of Flickr I discovered Picknik--they offer it there to their members, and I loved the free version so much that I signed up recently for the premium version!

It's definitely worth the $25! But the free version gives you a lot of features, too! I was fine with it for probably a year or so, and due to my love of photo editing and art in general decided to treat myself to the upgrade.

I've tried them all, pretty much, and so far Picnik is my fav! It works really well and simply for basic photo editing. And what's nice about it is that if you use Firefox and Firefox extensions, you can right click on any image online or on your computer and send them to Picnik for editing!

So easy! Some things I've done with Picnik: Which started out as this:

A "stamp" I made: George, at Mount Vernon, which was originally this: I just didn't like the lighting in this so played with it in Flickr to get the above image! And this: So much fun, and so easy!

I've saved a lot photos that I thought initially were unsave-able by editing them into something different with Picknik. Just a few clicks of some buttons and you're done. Try it!

It's free! I save my photos to my computer and then send them to Walmart or Walgreens generally for printing. I have the best luck with Walmart for quality.
