As someone who as attended tons of different churchs, including Catholic ones, the difference between traditional an contemporary services is pretty much this: Traditional services are more like the ones your grandmother might have attended. Contemporary Services on the other hand, are put together kind of like Protestant Services. The music is lively.
You may hear praise the lord and such. Some people may even pray with hands out stretched, but not necessarily. It depends on if you have a lot of Charasmatic Cathoics in the area or not.
Only the churchs follow the pope,still have confession, communion is believed to be literal. They say the rosary. That sort of thing.
