What to do if it sounds like something is stuck in your dogs throat but nothing is there?

Take your dog to the vet. You can not see what may be stuck further done into his throat.

I read the post where you said you don't have a car, and I can understand, as I am in the same boat right now. However, is your dog having any trouble breathing, or is he in any distress? I would also want to get my pet to the emergency clinic tonight, if only so that he would not have to be uncomfortable until morning.

If he is in distress, or having any respiratory difficulty, you really need to get him seen tonight. But since we can't accurately triage your dog here, please call the nearest all-night or emergency vet clinic, and talk to them. They can give you a better feel for whether this is an urgent or emergency situation.

Then, follow their guidance: if you have to wake up a friend or family member, or even take a cab, do it. Otherwise, if they feel like it can wait until tomorrow, I would suggest that you still keep a close eye on him through the night (set the alarm if you have to) to be sure his condition is not deteriorating. If the animal is in distress get him to an emergency vet NOW! If it's really just a cough you can probably wait it out and see what's what in the morning. Me, I'd be at the vet, not asking about it on this discussion board.
