Noise canceling earphones The title says it, you need noise canceling earphones. These devices have tiny microphones embedded in the earpieces to sample the environmental sound and create a back wave to cancel it out. I own a pair of these, and they are indispensable for air travel.
They require a battery to work, usually a single AA cell. You do not have to pay a lot of money for them, although you can. I’ve attached some Widgets from here at Zon to get you started.

Bose make the best I have found that Bose headphones are the best around. If you can't afford them, then any high quality noise cancelling headphones should keep you dancing to the beat. Sources: my opinion .
There are two types of headphones for this There are two types: - In Ear headphone - Actively noise cancelling headphonesIn ear headphones (see at amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/002-2454737-51... for a list of these headphones available e.g. At Amazon) are fitting exactly into the ear and keep away surrounding noises completely. The advantage of this is that they can be constructed quite easily so the prices are generally cheaper and that low frequencies are easier to produce. The disadvantage is that you can hear "yourself" much more.
It's the same effect if you stick your fingers into your ears. If you eat or speak something or walk, you can very loud hear the muching, speaking or the single "stomps". As well the noise of the cable if it "scatches" over the surface of the shirt can be heard.
When travelling e.g. In a plane or in another way where you yourself is not moving it's a good way of listening to music. The second type of headphones (see http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/103-2149906-5494212?initialSearch=1&url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=noise+cancelling+headphone&Go.x=0&Go.y=0&Go=Go for a list of them at Amazon) have an integrated microphone to record the surroinding noises. Building up the same sound but "vice versa" cancels out the surrounding sound for the listener.
That way you can wear "normal" headphones so which is more comfortable for many people. This technique is more complicated so prices are higher than beforementioned headphones. Also lower frequencies are more hard to produce loud enough but headphones with this feature are in a price-range where the overall-quality is higher anyway, so the quality of the sound is expected to be higher.
