No one has yet mentioned Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. I think the reason no one has mentioned it is no one has PS3, and it's exclusive to that system. That game has more polish, flash, style and just general oomph than any other game this year for me.
The depth of the combat/stealth system puts you in control of a James Bond-esque arsenal of insane gadgets. The graphics are insane. The replayability is also of note.
TONS of unlockable content, lots of reasons to play the game again. Metal Gear has always been a series unto itself and MGS4 is best (and sadly last...) iteration of the series. All of these points I think are going to hit home with a lot of video game media sites.
I am going to go out on a limb and say that Grand Theft Auto 4 is going to be the "Game of the Year". While I haven't played all of the games that are likely contenders this year, I think that the amount of "Hype" and "Buzz" surrounding the game, as well as the great reviews it received make it a leading candidate. BTW, what organization gives out the "Game of the Year" award?
Is there an organization like the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for Video Games? Also, what are the other categories that are awarded?
I guess it's the underdog, but I'd have to vote for Rock Band 2. It's continuing the tradition of the now mega-popular music games with another awesome track list and improved playability. Plus, it's good to know that so many people have secret fantasies of becoming rock stars and not just fantasies of stealing cars and shooting people.
Based on the sheer amount of conversation I've been hearing from the various game podcasts I listen to, I would recon that Far Cry 2 will be a serious contender. Specifically, the editors at Idle Thumbs haven't shut up about it for the past few months. Personally, Far Cry 2 has been one of the most authentic gaming experiences I've had in the last few years.
I would be pretty excited it if won game of the year.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
