What was mark Antony's job?

Marc Antony, at the time of his involvement with Cleopatra, was a Roman triumvir. He had supreme Roman authority in the East. He came east to settle border disputes and to stabilize the area for Rome.

He also planned to carry out Julius Caesar's war against the Parthians. He kept this authority all through his affair with Cleopatra which is why old Cleo snuggled up to him.
