Similar questions: popular cocktails America 1940s esp war years.
Several cocktails were popular during the World War II era, including the Hurricane and Moscow Mule. The Hurricane Cocktail was created by Pat O'Brien's in New Orleans because of wartime shortages. Most spirits were difficult to come by, but rum was overstocked.
Because they had so much of it, the restaurant created this cocktail with rum and passion fruit juice. Source: thespiritworld.net/2006/02/27/the_hurric... popular cocktail was the Moscow Mule, created from a Smirnoff surplus. (However, anti-Russian sentiment in America quickly dampered the public's view of the drink.) source: http://www.ifbagroimfl.com/party.htmlOther popular drinks included the gin sour (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sour_%28cocktail%29) and anything with vodka (http://www.ifbagroimfl.com/party.html) or maraschino liqueur (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/05/01/AR2007050100442_pf.html).

I can't give you a definitive answer, but I have some suggestions A number of websites discuss 1940s cocktails, and some give a few recipes, but none actually list the drinks in order of popularity, which I imagine you would find the most helpful. I’ve listed some references below. Also, there are a number of reprints of classic cocktail books, which include the 1940s.
I imagine looking at some of those would be helpful, as well. Unfortunately, I don’t have any at hand right now. But I’m going to try to come up with a list, based upon my web surfing, and, more importantly, based upon my memory of my father’s ’Old Mr. Boston Official Bartender’s Guide.’
My parents are from Tom Brokaw’s ’greatest generation,’ and ’Old Mr. Boston’ was originally published in the 1940s. So, I think my childhood memories are relevant here. My list of popular 1940s cocktails: 1. Martini 1. Ma3nhattan 3.
Tom Collins 4. Gimlet 5. Whiskey sour 6.
Gin rickey 7. Sidecar 8. Brandy Alexander 9.
Brandy Stinger 10. Pink Lady 11. Rob Roy 12.
Sloe gin fizz 13. Bloody Mary 14. Shirley Temple This list is not exhaustive, and I'm sure others can come up with good suggestions.
Several other cocktails--notably the Margarita and the Screwdriver--were invented in the 1940s, but I don’t think they became really popular until later. I hope this helps a bit. By the way, did you know there is a Museum of the American Cocktail?
They are in New York and New Orleans, and they have exhibits in New York and Las Vegas. They even have a website. Sounds like a fun project!

What were the most popular cocktails in Britain during the war 1945.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
