The Jewish historian, Josephus tells us that James, brother of Jesus, was stoned to death Acts of the Apostles says that Stephen was persecuted and executed by the Jews. However, some scholars doubt the historicity of this narrative, saying that it could have been inspired by a combination of the story of Jesus' trial and the stoning of James Clement of Rome, writing about 95 CE, says ( 1 Clement ) that Peter, by reason of unrighteous jealousy endured not one not one but many labours. The vagueness of this description suggests that he knew nothing about any actual persecution of Peter, but just knew that he must have suffered in some way.
He says that Paul "had been seven times in bonds, had been driven into exile, had been stoned We have no other firm evidence of any actual first century persecutions. Clement says that a "vast multitude of the elect", through many indignities and tortures, set a brave example. This could well be pious exaggeration.
If such a large number was persecuted, Clement would no doubt have been willing to give at least one specific example, but he only mentions the persecution of Joseph and David, both from the Old Testament.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
