Research suggests that there are four prime academic/career areas of concern for college freshman:* (1) Anxiety: Undecided about a major and confused about the process of career exploration. (2) Lack of confidence: Uncertain about an occupation (3) Self-assessment Questions: Unknown major strengths and weaknesses. (4) Deficits in Occupational Information: Lacking knowledge of work and what workers do.
Almost half of all college students change majors. An even higher percentage change career goals while in college. Some trial-and-error choosing in these areas is necessary and helpful.
High school students frequently complain and express strong fears of not being prepared for college sometimes academically, but also in the personal, social, study, and learning skills areas. Students need to understand the relationships between educational preparation and various careers. Our assessments deal with these issues.
