Whats the best hiking trail in South Dakota?

You basically have two areas to choose from, the Badlands and the Black My recommendation is for the Black You have the opportunity for day packing and multiple day trips. There's great hiking all over the Black Inaugurated in 1989, the Centennial Trail stretches from Bear Butte Mountain in the north to Wind Cave National Park. It makes a good choice for a multi-day backpacking trip, or you can take it in sections.

The Harney Range Trail System is another good choice for backtrapping trips, offering the opportunity to make loops through the Black Elk wilderness. Harney Peak kes - A place for inspiration in the Black lls on the highest peak east of the Rockies. Flume Trail w/o mountain bikes or horses, 14 miles.

Cook Lake and Cliff Swallow trails are gentler and are 4.5 miles long. Check out the link below for all of the trails and brief descriptions of each.

For sheer mindbending moonscape coolness (plus buffalo, antelope & groundhogs), you gotta go with the Badlands. nps.gov/badl/index.htm I've been all over the world and I've never seen anything like the badlands (although there's a place in NE China that seem similar). You really have to prepare if you are going to go backcountry (like a gallon a day - not kidding), but there are tons of shorter trail loops you can go on and then get back in your air-conditioned car.

Great camping too. And although it is a dessert, there are prairie areas and tons of wildlife. Of course, you really can't go wrong with the Black lls and Mount Rushmore - just be prepared for crowds.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
