I partially agree with Brandon 21. Dry rub is mandatory, but I would not use the sugar and make sure part of the rub and marinade mixture is a malt beer. After allowing meat to soak in mixture overnight, place in slow cooker early in the morning and set for 8 hour cook time.
I place meat in slow cooker complete with marinade mixture. Delicious!
Dry rub it the night before with this mixture: 1 part salt, 1 part pepper, 1/4 part cayenne, 1 part garlic powder, 1/4 part brown sugar, and 1 part paprika. The next day set it out to get room temperature. Place it on a rack in a baking pan, and put some water in the pan (about a half inch).
Place it uncovered in a smoker or oven set at 225-250 degrees. Cook it 6-10 hours (depending on size) and make sure all the water doesn't evaporate by adding more as needing. When the meat is done, let it rest, and then slice it thin.
Sauce with the following mixture: 2 part ketchup, 1/8 part mustard, 1/4 part apple cider vinegar, 1/2 part dark brown sugar, salt, pepper, and a few dashes of hot sauce. Lightly heat this mixture and spoon over the meat.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
