What's the difference between business English and literary English?

Business english focuses on terms utilized in running a business or in dealing with formal situations. Literary english can be more descriptive and organized for beauty. Literary english is used to tell stories and paint visual pictures while using words.

Business english serves a purpose, it works to solve a problem or create an outline for a working environment. Business english crosses over into legalese as drawing up contracts is a big part of setting up workplace parameters. Literary english can also be much more informal than business language.

The way you refer to others, including addressing people will likely be more common than that of business language. Business language is also streamlined. The use of direct wording helps to make points clear.In literature, authors are looking to drive points home with visuals and creativity.

Directness is not as important when working in creative endeavors.

I would probably never say something like "Her eyes were damp with the tears of a thousand unspoken sorrows," or "The trees like dogs of the forest, shook in the autumn breeze removing the last vestiges of summer."
