Olive oil is the only oil I buy and when I've used it for cakes ( and I make a lot of cakes ) they always turn out fine. Now it might have a slightly different taste but no-one has ever complained :) And there are many varieties of olive oil....some lighter than others. I usually use the straight olive oil, not processed and not the more expensive virgin type either.
Its great in cakes ... Go for it! PS - Experimentation is the key to learning how to cook!
Olive oil has a stronger taste than vegetable oil. It will definitely make a cake taste different.
Yes. The truth is sometimes, we thought but one change in ingredient in the food we cook changes our output. Same for the cake.
Cooking oils such as olive oil, corn oil, vegetable oil, etc has different tastes. Though they feel the same, they have different effects on the food you cook. So there, if you're not really sure of the outcome yet, stick to what the recipe calls for.
But if someone with experience suggested it to you, then why not give it a try. :).
I tried twice olive oils for cakes and it is nice too. Actually, my friend only uses olive oil in her cakes and I love her cakes very delicious to me, in my opinion. Experiment on it if you haven't done it yet, I am sure it will be eaten as a normal cake, no complains.
The olive oil taste will not dominate the whole cake because we use a lot of ingredients too when baking, I think it will compliment even more the other flavors used in the cake. Happy baking, hope this helps.
I use half olive oil and half unsweetened applesauce when oil is called for in cake recipes. Works fine for me and makes dessert a bit healthier!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
