Jesus was never opposed to social norms. He attended social gatherings, ate what was provided, drank wine and did not deny people from paying tax's. Jesus was a regular guy.
Those who lived in his town were conflicted over his divine mission. They asked: "Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary?
And his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?
