The Republicans are trying a strategy with Obama that they used before to great success with Carter. Jimmy Carter inherited a terrible economy from -two- previous Republican presidents. When he came to office we had unemployment, inflation and interest rates all in double digits.
In fact nobody could figure out how we could have both high unemployment and high inflation at the same time. It was called 'stagflation', stagnation and inflation. The Republicans blocked everything Carter tried to do to heal the economy.
Then they blamed it on him. They simply repeated over and over that it was Carter's fault, until the media picked it up and repeated it for them. Today Carter's failure is something 'everyone knows'.
Reagan came along in 1980 with this great idea that we could heal the economy and also balance the budget by spending more and more, and taxing less and less. It worked so well that they're trying the same thing now with Obama. First they said he took a healthy economy and destroyed it.
When they could no longer get away with saying that, they said he took a bad economy and made it worse. And even that won't fly these days. So now they're basically just blamiing him as incompetent, claiming he got into office with a deliberate plan to destroy America, etc. etc. The Repubs' biggest problem is that they have no new ideas to present.
All they can propose is a return to Reaganomics, the same stupid policies that got us into this mess in the first place. Listen to Romney and all you hear is that we have to do more deregulation and cut taxes more for the rich.
They know no facts only fantasy. Clinton’s main tool for improving the economy was the Revenue Reconciliation Act of 1993. This had small taxes for the rich offset by big tax breaks for small business.
This took the high unemployment and ballooning deficits from the Reagan Bush area down. He was able to achieve low unemployment and 0 deficit, actually a budget surplus. Every Republican in Congress voted against the bill but thankfully the democrats outnumbered them and were able to save the country from disaster.
Unfortunately along came baby bush.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
