When getting wisdom teeth removed do they knock you out like they would if it was a hospital type surgery?

Depends on whether or not your tooth is impacted. Depending on how deep they have to go to remove the tooth, an oral surgeon will either use general or local anesthesia. The less involved removing your wisdom teeth is, the less anesthesia needed.

When I had mine out, I was put under general anesthesia (meaning I was knocked out completely). I woke up feeling like I'd had a fantastic nap while someone had taken a sledgehammer to my jaw. Lol.
