When I sleep in, like today, my back gets so stiff I feel like it is frozen stiff, and every move I make hurts. Once I get up its ok. But I fell like I cant move a inch, like iam stuck there.
I was wondering if this might be arthritis. Asked by tinktink 52 months ago Similar questions: sleep today back stiff Health > Women's Health.
Me too My back is stiff most of the time but it is especially stiff in the mornings so much so that I can not usually sleep in no matter how badly I may want to. I don't know if its arthritis though. It does not seem to be effected by the weather at all and arthritis usually is.
For myself, I think the problem is being overweight and not getting enough exercise coupled with working at a desk all day. I am losing weight right now so we will see if my back gets better or not. According to some research on the Internet, other causes could be: A.
Mattress : - A rigid mattress could cause curvature of the spine due to elevation of shoulders & pelvis. - A sagging mattress causes curvature of the spine because of improper support of heaviest part of the body. - A semi rigid mattress supports all parts of the body properly.
Moreover, due to constant pressure of body parts the mattress gets lighter at at few weight bearing points & causes pressure on the nerves, later giving rise to problems. So it is best to use a cotton mattress (one inch thick) & change it every year. B.
Posture While Sleeping : - Sleeping on the side or back is best. - Avoid sleeping on the stomach as it pulls the spine down causing pressure on the ligaments & also turns your neck to one side. Now personally I have a good mattress that is neither too firm or two soft and I sleep on myside (which also causes my hip and shoulder to hurt).
Maybe we should try doing some pelvic tilts and other stretches before bed. Sources: doctorndtv.com/faq/detailfaq.asp?id=398 .
Not just a woman's issue It happens to me too. If I sleep for more than 8 hours, I'll usually be stiff. I'm a "dead" sleeper.
I get into position and then I don't move unless something wakes me up. I use this as an excuse to get out of bed in the morning...I figure it's my body telling me I've had enough sleep :) When I hurt my shoulder a few years ago, I had to get in the habit of sleeping on my side with my arm supported, and now it's my preferred position even though my arm is fine. I actually do the same thing each night - I read for awhile on my back.
When I turn out the light, I immediately roll over to my left side with my left arm out over my head so I'm basically using my shoulder as a pillow.
The first thing to look at is Your mattress! A firm mattress, not extra firm, is what you need to look for. If it's been more than five years since you replaced your mattress, it's probably time to go shopping for one again.
If it's arthritis, try taking Tylenol or Ibuprofen. If those don't make a difference, chances are that this is not the problem. Having arthritis in your back is unusual.
Therefore, I would suggest looking at other things first.
The longer you sleep, the stiffer you get. The same thing happens to me! If I sleep longer than 5-6 hours, I’ll usually wake up with a sore back.
For me, I think it’s a combination of laying in the same position for extended amounts of time AND sleeping on a poor/bad mattress. You might consider sleeping in another bed, on a couch, etc. To see if you experience the same sort of stiffness... I don't know whether or not it might be arthritis, but this thread might offer some assistance... Mid Back Pain After Rest If it persists, I would highly suggest you consult with a doctor..
You might want to try changing your sleep support -- sleep in sleeping bag on carpeted floor, or try out ... (without buying! ) a mattress advertised for helping with this, such as Tempur-Pedic or Sleep Number.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
