I wouldn't use one on a bolt gun, but I also don't really give a fuzzy rat's patootie what you do. I just wish you would be quiet about it.
I question your logic behind the purchase. Just because there's people who spend $800 on a scope for their $1000 rifle, it doesn't mean you cna spend $800 for a scope for your $100 rifle. It's like buying mag wheels for your piece of junk $900 Kelly Blue Book value car.
Not saying the mosin's a piece of junk, but a scope that's 4X the value of your gun... that's a very unusual purchase! Whats wrong with a cheap Barska holographic or NcStar something-other. $35 scope for a $100 rifle... much more reasonable.
I too have a holosight on my Mosin Nagant. But mine cost $69 and it was a 91/30. I wanted a carbine but with the local stores asking $400 for a rifle not even worth a third of that, and me too lazy to do a proper gun search, I just cut down my 91/30.
It now has a 18.75" barrel, threaded muzzle, no sights (gunsmith wanted $200 to attach front sight base), homemade/self designed dovetail to weaver rail adapter, and my newly purchased Barska Electro-sight holographic sight. The stock resembles the M38. I put a $35 scope on my $69 rifle.
Mathematics wise my scope cost half of my rifle. It's pretty expensive. I also floated the barrel bedded the action, accuracy is superb.
Better than buying a new $400 .308 rifle.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
