Congress will return to work next week (Monday June 7th), and is expected to discuss unemployment benefits right away. Right now, there is a debate as to whether to continue the current tier program unitl the end of the year, or to add another tier for those that have fallen off of the program. President Obama is pressing for the bill to pass through Congress as soon as possible.
S office continues to press into the minds of Congress that they should continue with as much aid as possilbe as $1 going into unemployment is turning into $1.45-$1.66 for the economy. The earliest that they could be voting on the legislation would be Tuesday or Wednesday. Usually, only quick bills will head through Congress on the first day back from a break.
There has been a lot of back-rubbing going on over teh break for this bill, but a vote on Monday really appears to be out of the question. All of my professional contacts in DC have lead me to think that a Wednesday or Thursday vote would be most probable.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
