Where do I find the unwritten books/texts not included in the bible?

I've been told there's a book of Jasper which I'm searching for, however I'd like to have a compilation of the unknown texts. Asked by giigii 50 months ago Similar questions: find unwritten books texts included bible Society > Religion & Spirituality.

Lot of "Lost" stuff out there There are a lot of levels here of something being "unknown" the first would of course be the collection of books known as the "Apocrypha" or the "hidden books". These are essentially the collection of books that were revered by the some parts of the early church but due to them not being widely disseminated or having some arguments over meaning were not included in what became the "official" Bible. They are not that hidden as most copies of the New Jerusalem Bible include them as well as the New Oxford Annotated Bible and the Harper Collins Study Bible.

There are of course the large list of ’gospels’ that have come forward, the ressurgence of such coming with the release of the Davinci Code. There are a lot of these, most of them come from the gnostic traditions which were labled as not being good teaching by the early church. These include The Gospel of Thomas, Gospel of Judas, Gospel of Peter, Gospel of Mary Magdelene you can find individual printing of all of these they are very popular now.

There are also a lot of works that can be labled as Jewish Apocalypticism a lot of which dates to the first and second century CE. These are books like First and Second Enoch which supply very elaborate views of the heavens and describe visions and remarkable acts of God. So for there to be a compilation of these texts is sort of hard to do, simply because there are a lot of them and quite simply there are a lot of books from 2000+ years ago that deal with God but just didn’t make it into either the Hebrew Bible or the Christian New Testament.

I couldn’t find anything on the book called Jasper, but there is a book called JASHER which is referred to in Joshua. There a a couple of listings for that on Amazon and I’ll put them below. Always remember that some of those books that we consider "Lost" today were not really lost as much as they were put away.

Sometimes, if they contradicted the teachings of the church - they were supressed. That doesn’t mean that they are neccessarily good or bad. I think a lot of times we, as people, are looking for some lost secret that they think will truly unlock God or our understanding of the world. So just be aware of the fact that a lot of people will look at these "lost" things and think they must be the real truth, when in fact it might be bad teaching.

The books not included in the Bible would be all books in existance at the time of the Bible's compilation NOT included. But there are many that are considered the 'apocrypha', or 'hidden books', and this is probably what you are seeking. There is an in-depth article on these in the Catholic Encyclopedia here: newadvent.org/cathen/01601a.htm I am not familiar with the book of Jasper, but there is a book of Jasher, which is probably the one you are looking for.It is widely available.

The Gnostic Gospels, Dead Sea Scrolls, and the Catholic Bible all have books not included in the KJV Bible. Go on Amazon and type in "Gnostic Gospels", "Dead Sea Scrolls", and "Catholic Bible" and you'll get dozen of interesting options. Also, I'd recommend getting a Bible Almanac if you are going to try to do any study of the Bible.

Some other words you may want to search are: "Apocrypha", "Deuterocanonical", and "Septuagint". Some history of the early Christian Church would also be helpful. You may want to start with reading articles about: "Council of Laodicea, 363AD", and "Council of Carthage, 397AD".

These two councils were important in establishing which books would be accepted by the early Church. One problem I see in the study of potential gospel text, is that every old text or fragment of an old text is being called a "missing", "suppressed", or "lost" book of the Bible. They may be old, but that does not make them a "lost" part of the Bible.

But, it just goes to show what a hard time the early Church must have had in deciding what to leave in and what to leave out. Sources: Years of studying the Bible with Baptist and Catholic relatives. I'm guessing you're referring largely to the Gnostic gospels that were excluded by the church. These can generally be found by searching under gnostic or apocrypha. You may also want to search under Nag Hammadi, which was where a number of Gnostic gospels and other early Christian texts were unearthed in 1945.

ST. JOHN'S BIBLE WISDOM BOOKS WHERE CAN I BUY IT.

Your 'Change category' does not work. You put my 'computer' question into 'Religion & Spirituality.

I am looking for online Bible study that thoroughly covers books of the Bible. Also, does questions/answers online.

Books or classes on training in general spirituality & healing.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
