Where is the transmission dipstick located on a 1996 Honda Passport if there is not one how do you check level and fill it?

The transmission may be sealed for life Answer The fill cap is on top of the transmission. You need to put the car on a hoist and feel around. You determine the level by feel.

This is not easy and is best left to the Honda dealer. Poor design, but usually this truck is so reliable that if you have the fluid cahanged every 60K, you won't need to check and shouldn't have a problem Answer I now know this answer because my son's 2001 Passport transmission just went out at 98,000 miles. On the side of the transmission, there are two plugs.

You remove both plugs and fill one side with fluid, (not sure which side), until the fluid comes out the other drain plug whole. There is NO DIPSTICK in the engine compartment. By the way, his Passport broke down in Denver,Co.

A rebuilt transmission there costs $4000.00 and a used one he got from a salvage yard with 60,000 miles on it costs $2600.00. He had the truck only one day, thank God the dealer was a large dealer and paid for the used one and also to be put in. Also timing belt and serpentine belt costs $369.00 to replace while he was there.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
