Where's my Manhattan Project or Apollo Program?

In both those cases though, we were on a war footing -- WW2 for the Manhattan Project and the Cold War for Apollo. It can be said that we are at war now, and its for our very survival. But how to convince the general population of it?

We need a campaign of conservation and alternate energy. Let's heavily promote subsidize local energy production like solar panels, solar hot water, geo thermal and personal wind turbines, and get them installed in every home (while continuing work on hydrogen, fuel cells, fusion, etc.). And the same for conservation, with better insulation, getting gas hogs off the road and raising fuel efficiency, composting, recycling etc. more.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
