Interesting question. I really think the Roman Empire had the most influence in western civilization. From them we have most of the architecture that we have in Washington D.C. and many other important buildings.

The Romans had a form of Democracy with Senators and Representatives that spoke for the people. We also have that but lately they do not seem to speak for the people instead for their own advancement. The Art and Religion of that time also influenced the world.

Yes, it is true that Rome ruled the world at one time in They took it for granted and lost it all. Hopefully story will not repeat itself in our country. We take all we have for granted and many people are "waiting in the wings" to take it away from us.

Other countries that had influence were Greece and China but since I am Italian I'll stick with Rome. :) .

Thus, to your point about China in your question: I agree that all appearances are that the Pacific Rim will be the future of the planet and China will dominate the Pacific Rim (Japan aimed at this but missed. ) Okay, but that is merely the appearance.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
