Which blogging site should I use?

The more I use Wordpress, the more I love it. It has 2 very important features that Blogger doesn't yet support. Number 1, you can set up Wordpress to automatically ping all the RSS and blog feed directories every time you make a post.

This is a very powerful feature if you want your blog to get a lot of traffic right away. On top of that, you'll be quickly developing backlinks to your blog almost automatically. Think about how long it can take you to build a regular site, get the search engines to index it, get backlinks to improve your listings, and then start getting traffic.

A blog like Wordpress can do all that "grunge" work for you automatically. Number 2, Wordpress allows the use of Categories. Categories are a very powerful way to improve the structure of your site both for human visitors and for the search engines.

Let's say the topic of your site is Widgets. You could create a Category for black widgets, one for orange widgets, and one for green widgets. Now when you add posts to your blog, you can choose which of your categories your post belongs to.

Now your blog will archive your past posts not only by their month and date, as Blogger does. But also by Category. So if you have a visitor who is especially interested in green widgets, they can easily find all your posts on green widgets.

They don't have to go through your entire archives to find them. With a blog that has been around for awhile and has hundreds of posts, that would be pretty discouraging. Using Categories makes it very easy.

Categories are also very search engine friendly. When you use Categories in your blog, there is a link on every one of your pages to your categories. Think about this: would you rather be #1 in the search engines for March 2003, or for green widgets, one of the main keywords of your site?

By using the Category feature, you will eventually have hundreds of pages on your site with links to green widgets, black widgets, and orange widgets. All those backlinks to those keywords can result in much higher search engine rankings. Another neat feature is that you can easily create an RSS feed for each of your categories.

Then every time you post to your blog, it could be pinging the Blog/RSS directories for each feed! Compare that to putting up a new page on a traditional website. Even if the search engines find your new page right away, it might be a month or two before it actually gets indexed and starts drawing traffic.It might be a long time before it enjoys a first page position for its keywords.

It's almost amazing how easy all this is with a well-structured blog like Wordpress with Categories enabled!

I run blogs as both Tumblr (insomniaccoder.com , pedrovera.com , pedrojavier.org) and Wordpress (as standalone, not through Wordpress. Com, veraperez.com ). If all you are interested is in writing, posting clips, etc.Then maybe Tumblr is a better choice.

It is very fast, the template system is really simple, and they won't charge you if you want to bring your own domain (Wordpress. Com does). Wordpress is great if you are a control freak, but in terms of functionality I am afraid that the Wordpress team has been spending too much time lately obsessing over the admin menus and AJAX.

Also, Wordpress is a pain to upgrade if you have any customization in place, so it is not good unless you don't mind doing the extra work (there is a plugin to automatically upgrade, but there are some reported issues as of WP 2.7). The only reason I am still using Wordpress for one of my blogs is because I have an advertiser that requires a plugin, otherwise all of my blogs would be in Tumblr.

For a hosted blog that's dead simple to use try Posterous. You e-mail blog entries in and it does a great job of making attachments (images, video and audio) look good. As when your requirements become more complex it can also be configured to 'feed' more advanced blogs such as self-hosted Wordpress or wordpress.Org that others have mentioned.

If you don't have much exp in html or javascript then you should use blogspot.com. Otherwise wordpress is best option.

Try Squarespace. They have a lot of great templates, options and fantastic support. I created my own website using their services and I'm happy I did.

Wordpress.com. If you are planning to have your own domain name, just approach me and I can give you affordable webhosts that host wordpress blogs.

WordPress! Aside from generally being more used, it's open source, has a user-friendly UI, and does a much better job with Google indexing, in my opinion. Also, keep in mind that if you're planning on using your own domain name or other features with WordPress.Com, you'll have to pay a fee.

If you're simply using the files from WordPress. Org, however, you'll only have to pay the fees associated with your separate hosting and domain name plans (nothing through WordPress.Org).

The simplest is blogger.com and the most flexible is wordpress.com.

I'd say wordpress also.. but there's also VOX. Com and now twitblogs.com.

I think Wordpress would be more suitable to you coz Wordpress is open-sourced and very popular these years. It has many adds-on or extensions just like that of Firefox which strengthens its power. You can found almost any template you can imagine for Wordpress.It might be a little difficult to use for newbies but it is one of the most promising one.

My recommendation is:Try it and you will not regret.

Wordpress! Not only its open source that will allow you to make modifications but bugs are fixed as fast as possible if they are detected! So no stealing of info!

I'm assuming you want a hosted solution. If that's the case the most important distinguishing features are related to revenue. At the moment Typepad hosting allows you to run adverts.

Wordpress doesn't, though their ads may appear on your blog. Typepad also has broad range of e-commerce widgets. N.B.This only applies to the hosted services.

Whichever you choose, I'd recommend using Flock to post. It's a great time saver.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
