I really prefer Jane Austen. To be fair, I have read all of her novels, and only "Turn of the Screw" by James. I also had a really bad professor make me read that story by James.
These are probably two major contributing factors, however, I don't like all of James' subtleties, where you don't really ever know whats happening. Also, I am a sucker for a good love story in puffy dresses, which Austen can't seem to not write. Austen all the way!
Great question! I prefer Jane Austen because her writing is lighter and more fun. Her wit is unmatched.
James is a little slower and, to me at least, dry. Maybe a little more sophistocated though.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
