Apples are awesome: Apple juice, apple cider, apple pie, apple sauce, etc. So obviously I'd grow a Peach tree.
We had a peach tree for over 20 years when I was growing up.
Apples for sure, much easier to maintain than peaches. Keep in mind your climate may not permit peach growth anyway.
Definitely apple tree. That way, you get iPads and stuff.
Im a "crazy" guy as some put it, and I would personally try to merge em both, but if I couldnt id choose apple.
Self pollinating Apple peach requires another tree two of them .
Neither is perfect. Peaches are prone to peach borers which kill the tree. The fruit is delicious.....and they don't all need a pollinator but often do better with a compatible species nearby.
Their fall foliage is delightful......reds, oranges, etc. They are not as long lived as apples. Apple trees are less prone to insects, but the fruit may be more prone than peaches........think apple worm.So either you accept the worm or learn how to control the problem without constantly spraying........yes, there are ways. Really only a couple of self fruitful apples......all the others require another species for pollination and then specific types.......just any old one won't do.
Apples are far longer lived.Size....for urban areas stick with a dwarf for semi dwarf apple......(may top out around 18 feet tall). Do not plant a standard apples unless you want to pick apples from 25-35 feet up. Peaches are smaller over all and fit better in urban areas.
Fall color on apples is pretty much in the yellows, nothing grand. Having had 60 apples, I'm not in a hurry to plant another. I love fresh peaches but the trees here are really under attack from the borers.
Also our late spring frosts mean some years the peach blooms are lost. Apples are later flowering, so rarely are completely done in.
Being a SoCal guy I'd opt for an avocado as I love to put guacamole in the dip-bowl and applesauce or peach-dip doesn't make too many friends around here.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
