1 The lights closed by themselves very slowly and, subsequent to this event, my car has been running hotter then the normal 193 degrees; now about 10 to 15 degrees higher. Don't know if there is any connection? .

2 It sounds like some sort of fault in a sensor that affects those servo motors on the lights. There is probably a Eprom chip that is designed to shut them off automatically at a certain trigger point, and heat might be a factor. I think you need someone experienced with this model of Corvette to look at the electronics at least.

I used to have a Prelude with the lights that would raise up and down, and I know there is a manual adjustment for these controls under the hood. Not sure if the Corvette has the same thing.

3 I would guess you have an old battery. When was the last time you replaced your battery or had your alternator checked? A battery only lasts 5 years, 6 at the most.

On an older car that is running fine, some people forget to check. You usually notice it at night. During the day, the battery can generate enough juice, but at night, when you have the lights and the radio on, the battery is being drained and caput!

The car running hot could be the thermostat. Another very easy thing to forget about. If it's stuck closed, you might not have a problem until you have hot weather or you've been driving around for half and hour or so.

That's my guess.

4 the two problems may not be related. The headlight problem may also be a bad switch. They DO fail once in a while.

5 Also, if you have the manual adjusters for your lights like on the Prelude (they are little round black knobs located near the lights under the hood) you can turn them so that the lights always stay elevated whether they are on or off. This is a short term solution to prevent you from having an accident until it is looked at. Again, I don't know if the same safety system exists on the Corvette that is built into the Prelude...

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
