Who Developed the Polio Vaccine?

Dr. Jonas Salk developed the first successful vaccine using a mixture of three types of the virus in 1952. He began his research on the polio virus in 1947. When he discovered a method of growing polio virus in cell structure, his research moved forward.

He reached a breakthrough when he discovered a method of inactivating the whole virus.
