Who did Paul Tillich get his ontology from?

As Tillich did his postgraduate research on the writings of early nineteenth century idealist Friedrich Schelling (1775 - 1854), it is likely Schelling influenced his existential ontology. Tillichs ontology is said to be simply a restatement in a modern form of the idealism of men like Schelling In addition, towards the end of his life Tillich expressed a degree of sympathy towards the philosophy of Buddhism, so it could be said that his ontology also came from this direction.
